Arun Shome is an associate at the firm. He has significant experience with patent prosecution for a range of electromechanical technologies, including automotive components, autonomous vehicles, medical devices, medical imaging systems, batteries, smartphone components, televisions, software, and miscellaneous mechanical devices.
Arun started his career in intellectual property in 2008 as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, where he examined patent applications for medical devices. After working as a patent examiner and prior to joining Oliff, he worked for another intellectual property firm handling patent prosecution matters. Arun lived in Japan for three months while working directly with Japanese clients to advise on issues of U.S. patent law and to discuss strategies for responding to Office Actions. Arun also has considerable experience conducting prior art searches and patent landscape studies, both at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in private practice with a patent search company.
