Beth Wagner is a Technical Specialist with the firm, where she focuses on the prosecution of patent applications in a wide range of subject matter, including pharmaceuticals and biotechnology. Beth has several years of experience assisting clients with a variety of matters including application drafting, U.S. and foreign prosecution, freedom-to-operate and patentability searching, and Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB) proceedings.
Prior to transitioning to the intellectual property field, Beth received her Ph.D. in Biochemistry & Molecular Genetics from the University of Virginia in the lab of Jung-Bum Shin, which studies the molecular basis of hearing and hearing loss. Her dissertation research focused on the characterization of a protein responsible for the maintenance and repair of inner ear hair cells using a variety of tools including gene editing, gene therapy, microscopy, and protein biochemical analysis. She earned her M.S. in Biological & Physical Sciences from the University of Virginia and her B.S. in Genetics and B.S. in Biochemistry from Clemson University, graduating summa cum laude.
